Who We Are?
Prisha Seva Trust, is an NGO in India directly benefiting children, women and weaker sections of the society through welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment, in over 100 remote villages across Udupi and neighbouring districts.
As rightly said by Swami Vivekananda, Education is the manifestation of perfectionism already present in a child. It empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and it increases one's awareness on a range of issues around – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one's rights and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen. Prisha's educational initiatives include assist education for underprivileged children who are under difficult circumstances, such as child labour, children of poorest of the parents, children with rare disabilities, disaster struck children and slum children. Special focus on girl education and women education, so that they and their families get empowered.
A quote from Mahatma Gandhi says it is health that is real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver. Child education cannot be done in isolation as it will go to school only if the family, particularly the mother, is assured of healthcare and empowered. Moreover, when an elder brother/sister is relevantly skilled to be employable and begins earning, the journey of empowerment continues beyond the present generation. Remote villagers and slum dwellers suffer from adverse health conditions mainly due to the lack of education and thus lack of awareness; and second the unwillingness to lose a day’s wage in order to reach the nearest medical facility. Prisha tried to bring quality healthcare services to the doorsteps of the needy and promote healthcare awareness and contemporary healthcare seeking behavior among the underprivileged.
To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors - a quote by Tia Walker. Senior citizens ask for nothing but to spend their last days in peace. Prisha's initiative to help elderly men and women, below the poverty line, living alone in remote rural villages. Providing basic necessities like food, medicines, clothing, free medical camps, cultural programs and camps to improve their quality of life is Prisha's objective.
